Koena Mitra to play the third woman in Rebecca

Anant Mahadevan’s plan to take on Daphnedu Maurier’s Rebecca would surprise the late British author as much as Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar would have jolted Mario Puzo. In Anamika, Ananth’s version of Rebecca, the sultry Koena Mitra has been cast in a role that doesn’t exsit in the original. She plays a childhood sweetheart of hero Maxim De Winter who is still in love him, thus providing the third woman angle besides Rebecca and Maxim’s second wife.Says Koena Mitra, “I can easily say this is the meatiest role of my career so far, and just the challenge I needed to move forword as an actress. I play Dino Morea’s childhood sweetheart who still has the hots for him. It’s basically a triangle between me, Minissha Lamba and dino. What I like about this role is the challenge of fitting into a part that is entirely new to the original book. Anamika doesn’t have more than a handful of characters. So, i will get a chance to make my presence felt. Nowadays every director wnats to make a multi-starrer where one just gets lost.
